Trollied is back with a brand new series on Sky One at 9.00 pm on Monday 7 November and with Sky’s kind permission, I have had the great pleasure of interviewing a number of the cast members. So, without further ado, here’s Mr Disaster Area himself, Linda’s boyfriend Neville… Dominic Coleman….
Thanks for chatting to Break A Leg, Dominic, what can we expect from Neville in series six of Trollied?
He’s very much the same and carries on in much the same vane, really. He has a crack at being a Manager which has a predictable result. Linda’s (Faye McKeever) still very much in love with him, so that relationship’s still all fine.
When it was first suggested that Linda and Neville got together, what did you think?
I was quite surprised by it actually, because Faye’s a very attractive young lady and I’m a not very attractive middle aged bloke, so I did wonder how it was going to work. It’s quite nice though, actually, it shows a nice side to Neville and shows a funny side to Linda, too.
You’ve been playing Neville for a while, now what’s it like being part of the show?
I joined in the second series, so they were already an established cast, all really friendly and the show is really good fun. It’s a real laugh and an easy job to do because everybody gets on really well. It would be awful if you didn’t get on because we’re all stuck in the same location. It’s an odd set up, not like a lot of other jobs because you never go anywhere and it’s all shot in one place. It’s such good fun to be part of that it’s become a real highlight for me, I look forward to finding out what’s happened to my character and what the storyline will be. It’s such a nice place to be, even after a twelve month break, within a couple of days it’s like you’ve never been away.
Going back to when you first read the script, what was your initial reaction when you read it?
I was surprised at how much detail there was to it, I thought “this is a big show” and I was so excited to be working with Jane Horrocks, Mark Addy and Jason Watkins. When you go for a read-through you look forward to seeing who they’ve got in for the series, last series we had Sarah Parish, the series before we had Stephen Tompkinson join the cast. Rufus Hound has joined us for this series and he’s great, a real firecracker to have around and great to work with. Rufus’s character shakes things up in a really good way. The show is blessed to have such great actors and it’s testament to the show that they want to come in and join the cast.
Finally, what would you say to encourage viewers to watch series six?
All the characters that people love are back for series six, there’ll be a will they/won’t they cliff hanger and there are some great new characters too!
Thanks so much to Dominic for talking to Break A Leg, it was a real pleasure to chat to him.
